Why script writing with AI works better with a story bible

Generic AI can spit out dialogue that sounds like every other script. When the AI is wired to your Canon — your logline, premise, characters, locations, and tone — it suggests lines that fit your world and your characters. Blocwrite’s script workspace keeps one source of truth; the AI uses it for every suggestion.

You stay in control: accept, edit, or ignore. No lock-in. You can also turn off AI and write the whole script by hand.

Every format: screenplay, TV, stage, musical

One script writing workspace for feature screenplays, TV drama pilots and episodes, single- and multi-cam sitcoms, stage plays, musicals, web series, and adaptations. Same Canon, same Plan (beat sheet and scenes), same AI. For musicals we add song lyrics and a music prompt per song so you can brief composers or music tools.

How it works: Canon → Plan → Script

  • Canon: Logline, premise, three-act storyline, characters, locations, style and voice. For musicals, add music genre. The AI reads this before every suggestion.
  • Plan: Beat sheet by act. Generate scenes from beats. Each scene has slugline, one-line, synopsis, and character/location tags.
  • Script: Scene-by-scene editor with sluglines, action, character, dialogue, parentheticals, transitions. Type \ for character. Use “Suggest dialogue” or “Suggest action” — the AI uses Canon and the current scene.

Export your script (e.g. Fountain) for industry-standard use.

Bring your own AI key

Blocwrite doesn’t sell AI credits. You connect your own API key (OpenRouter). Free models are available, so you can try script writing with AI without extra cost. The subscription covers the workspace — planning, Canon, script editor, and export.

Frequently asked questions

What is script writing with AI?
Script writing with AI means using an AI assistant that understands your story bible (characters, locations, tone) to suggest dialogue, action lines, and scene structure. Blocwrite’s script workspace uses your Canon and beat sheet so every suggestion stays consistent with your script.
Can I use AI for screenplays and TV pilots?
Yes. Blocwrite supports feature screenplays, TV drama pilots and episodes, single- and multi-cam sitcoms, stage plays, musicals, web series, and adaptations. The same AI-assisted workflow works for all formats.
Does the AI write my script for me?
No. You stay in control. The AI suggests dialogue and action based on your Canon and plan; you choose what to keep, edit, or ignore. You can also write entirely by hand — every feature works without AI.
What about musicals?
The script workspace includes song lyrics generation from scenes and a music prompt for each song (genre, vocal, mood) that you can use with external music tools. The AI uses your script bible and style.
