Share the right draft with the right readers

A beta reader responds to the experience of reading your story. They can tell you where they became confused, lost interest or wanted to keep going. Give them a stable section of your draft and a small number of useful questions, rather than asking them to solve every writing problem at once.

In Blocwrite, choose the chapters you want to share and create a private reader link. Readers open the link in their browser and do not need a Blocwrite account. You can protect the link with a password and set an expiry when you want a limited reading window.

Ask questions that lead to usable feedback

Try questions about what the reader experienced rather than whether they thought the book was good. An answer tied to a passage gives you something concrete to review.

  • Where did you first understand what the main character wanted?
  • Was there a moment when you had to reread to work out what happened?
  • Which scene made you want to continue?
  • Did a character’s choice feel surprising for a reason you could follow?

Keep comments beside the passages they concern

Readers can highlight passages and leave comments in the browser. Their feedback returns beside your draft, so you can review the original context instead of matching email remarks to chapter numbers by hand.

A comment is evidence of one reader’s experience. It does not have to become an instruction. Look for patterns across readers, record your own revision decision and keep the parts of the book that are working.

Give a revision pass a clear purpose

Before substantial changes, save a named edition or a workspace copy. Work through one kind of problem at a time: reader confusion, character motivation or scene order. Keep your revision notes with the book and return to sentence-level editing after the larger decisions.

Blocwrite brings drafting, reader feedback and revision into the same studio. Sending the link is your choice, and readers see the chapters you select. Share only material you are comfortable letting those readers access; a private link is still something its recipient can pass on.
