Why build another writing app?
I kept jumping between tools that never quite fitted. One was tidy but thin. Another was clever but felt built for anyone except a novelist. A few treated AI as the writer, not the assistant. I wanted one place to plan, draft, format, and finish, with me still holding the pen.
Where do you stand on AI?
It can help. It shouldn’t pretend to be you. In Blocwrite, Assist is optional: tidy a line, check continuity, keep going when you’re stuck. Your book should still sound like the person who lived with it for months.
What does ethical look like day to day?
Your words stay yours. AI stays optional. You bring your own key; we don’t mark it up. If a feature doesn’t help you finish the book, it doesn’t belong in the studio.
Why talk about co-ownership?
I’m not a big corporation. I’m a writer in Yorkshire with an idea. If Blocwrite grows, I’d rather grow it with the people who write here, not for shareholders who never open a manuscript.
Is there a price to join?
Not on this page. No fee to register interest. Say hello, ask a question, or tell us you’re already writing in Studio. We’ll keep it human and share details when they’re ready.
What we’re aiming for
Writers first, for the long haul
Finish books, not vanity metrics. Optional Assist that never becomes the author. Craft over hype. If the usual path is “shareholders first, writers as customers,” we’d rather do the opposite.
