Set the interior before judging the page count
Choose a trim size and typography before deciding whether the book feels too long or short in print. Font, line spacing and page dimensions all change the number of pages. Check chapter openings, paragraph spacing, scene breaks, page numbers and front matter as a connected design.

Prepare the cover for the actual book
A paperback cover wraps around a physical spine. Its width depends on the interior page count and paper stock, so a front-cover image alone is not a finished print wrap. Blocwrite’s print cover templates use your chosen trim, estimated pages and paper to prepare the geometry.
Check the final retailer or printer requirements before uploading. Recalculate the cover if the interior changes, and order a physical proof when printing. A preview helps you inspect the layout, but it cannot show every paper, trimming or binding variation.
Check the exported files, not just the preview
Open the EPUB in an ebook reader and test the contents links, chapter breaks and any images. Inspect the PDF at its actual page size. For a Word submission, compare the file with the recipient’s stated requirements. Keep your original manuscript and the exported files together.
The useful part of formatting inside your writing studio is that a small correction can start in the source chapter. Make the correction there, export again and inspect the new file so the manuscript and the reading copy stay in step.
